Another day, another ignorant Republican opens his stupid mouth.
Jeremy Walters is running for office in Iowa. And recently, on facebook, he enlightened his constituents on his views concerning homosexuality. In short, he thinks AIDS is divine retribution for their sin.
Apparently, Walters didn’t get the memo in back 1986 that no sane person really thinks this way anymore.
In case the image above isn’t loading properly, here’s what he said verbatim (complete with atrocious spelling and grammar):
“The Holy Bible says if your ‘GAY’ homosexual they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. This tells me a lot so should we kill them NO. They Need to ask God to forgive them of their sins and mean it turn away from it. They also need to know that when it says that their blood shall be upon them that tells me it is AIDS. That how I feel.”
“homosexual “GAY” is not of God!!!!!! In the Bible it reads; Leviticus 20:13- King James Bible
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. So the people that don’t have God in their life or don’t belive in God they are a fool. Only a Fool says there is no God.”
Of course he had to throw in the obligatory shot against atheists. Because it’s still politically okay to hate on them, too.
I’d love to hear his explanation of the verses literally a few chapters after Leviticus 20, when it commands parents to stone disobedient children. Does God have some kind of debilitating disease planned as divine punishment for all these brats?
What irritates me is that this is precisely the kind of statement that society as a whole should find morally reprehensible, and yet too many people agree with this rubbish for it to really cost this guy votes.
If a political candidate went on facebook and said “Black people deserve sickle-cell anemia, and anyone who doesn’t believe in fairies is an idiot,” the guy would be laughed out of the running. But because these particular beliefs happen to be justified by antiquated scripture, it’s okay?
Countdown till this guy is outed as a “homosexual GAY” himself, in 5… 4… 3…
